1 Dead in Houston Pedestrian Accident on Southwest Freeway

HOUSTON, TX (August 15, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, authorities arrested Asdenys De Armas-Perez in a horrific pedestrian crash on Southwest Freeway.

The incident happened at about 1:00 a.m. in the 1400 block of the Southwest Freeway.

According to police, De Armas-Perez struck and killed a man as he changed a tire on the shoulder of a Houston highway.

Officers revealed that the 23-year-old victim was changing a tire on his vehicle on the right shoulder of the northbound lanes. Then, he was hit by a gray Pontiac G. Officers declared him dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Pontiac, De Armas-Perez, showed signs of impairment. Responders took him to the hospital in stable condition and he remained in the hospital on Monday.

Officers confirmed that he was intoxicated and was charged in the crash.

Moreover, the identity of the 23-year-old man who died in the crash remained undisclosed.
