Vehicle Hits Power Poles at Wheeler Ridge and Herring Roads Killing its Driver
ARVIN, CA (January 7, 2019) – A 25-year-old man was killed after slamming his vehicle into two power poles early Monday morning in Arvin.
The fatal crash happened just after 1:00 am. near the intersection of Wheeler Ridge Road and Herring Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a pickup truck was traveling northbound when it drifted across the southbound lanes and into the dirt shoulder, striking a power pole. After the hit, the car traveled back on the roadway and collided into a second power pole.
The male driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
Officials do not believe the man was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Power lines were down in the area, but no road closures were reported.
It is unknown if speed, drugs and/or alcohol were factors and the crash. Further investigation is underway.
