Stockton Man Dies after Crashing His Car into Trees
STOCKTON, CA (December 10, 2018) – A man was killed following a car accident Monday morning in Stockton, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident was reported at 5:46 a.m. but CHP officials determined the crash occurred several hours earlier because the car’s engine was only slightly warm upon their arrival.
The vehicle reportedly went off westbound Highway 4, just West of 5 Freeway in Stockton’s Port District, traveled down a steep embankment and crashed into a tree. The vehicle then ended up near East Washington Street east of South Garfield Street.
The driver, who was identified as a 38-year-old Arthur Anthony Ortega of Stockton, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
It is unknown if drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
