1 Hurt, Arthur John Howatt Jr. Detained in Eureka Car Accident
EUREKA, CA (February 4, 2019) – One person sustained injuries while a man was detained following a vehicle pursuit that ended with a collision on January 31.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s office received a report of a burglary in progress on the 7500 block of Elk River Court just after 8:00 a.m.
Deputies saw the suspects’ 4Runner carrying a stolen trailer. They began chasing the 4Runner but was then called off after the vehicle collided into a car at Harris and Harrison Street.
The SUV was found on J Street where spike strips were deployed. The 4Runner later collided into a Nissan Sentra at 14th and F Street.
The male suspect, 44-year-old Arthur John Howatt Jr., was detained on charges of burglary, possession of a stolen vehicle evading and violation of post release community supervision.
Meanwhile, a female passenger was also arrested and released.
The female driver of the car suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The collision also damaged multiple parked vehicles.
