64-Year-Old Woman Struck and Killed on 1300 Block of Terra Bella Street

 
ARLETA, CA (January 15, 2018) – Around 9:45 PM on Monday night, a female pedestrian outside of the crosswalk was struck a killed on the intersection of Terra Bella Street and Beachy Avenue.
 
According to LAPD officials, a dark grey 2011 Volkswagen CC was driving eastbound on Terra Bella St towards Beachy Ave, when it struck a woman that was standing in the middle of the street. The 64-year-old woman was reported to be standing in the intersection, pointing and shooting an imaginary gun to vehicles that passed by.
 
The driver didn’t have injuries and the vehicle had a broken front windshield, while the victim had blunt force trauma to her body and succumbed to her injuries. She was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency responders.
 
The driver stopped and called the police after the accident. Official reports state that the driver said that it was difficult to see at that time of night, and that she wasn’t expected a person to be standing in the middle of the road.
 
A part of the street was blocked off while investigation took place. Officials are unsure whether or not the victim was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident. They are waiting for the autopsy toxicology information.
