Woman Fatally Struck in Berkeley
San Diego, CA (March 2, 2024) – Ariel Bridgeman, a 23-year-old Murrieta woman, was killed in a 15 Freeway collision early Friday morning.
The fatal collision happened around 4:45 a.m. on March 1 near the San Diego County line.
Officers said Bridgeman was driving a northbound 2021 Honda Accord on the freeway when her car swerved off of the shoulder. The vehicle then crashed through a chain-link fence and hit an embankment.
Afterward, the vehicle ricocheted back onto the freeway and rested facing the wrong way in the middle two lanes of the freeway.
Bridgeman got out of the vehicle and stood in the No. 2 lane.
Unfortunately, an oncoming 2017 Honda Civic driven by a 38-year-old Oceanside resident was running at 70-75 mph. The driver braked but couldn’t avoid Bridgeman..
The authorities declared Bridgeman deceased at the crash scene while the other driver was hospitalized with major injuries.
Officers are investigating the cause of the collision.
