Injuries Reported in Fresno Auto Accident at River Park Shopping Center
FRESNO, CA (October 23, 2023) – Saturday night, a bystander suffered injuries following a heated argument which led to a crash at River Park Shopping Center.
The authorities received a report of the disturbance at around 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the River Park Shopping Center, near the P.F. Changs restaurant.
Notably, a pro-Palestine demonstration was happening nearby, closer to the intersection of Blackstone and Nees avenues.
Lt. Zeb Price revealed that a 60-year-old man driving a pickup truck got into an argument with a bicyclist connected to the demonstration. The argument escalated, leading to the bicyclist punching the truck’s driver through the window. In response, the truck driver sped away, accidentally hitting a woman who was walking in the P.F. Changs parking lot.
The injured woman, who was also associated with the pro-Palestine demonstration, sustained a broken ankle. She received medical attention and was taken to Fresno Regional Community Medical Center, where her condition is stable. Fortunately, the bicyclist was unharmed, though his bike was damaged in the incident.
The pickup truck driver was later detained by the police and may face charges, including hit-and-run and driving under the influence.
Approximately 50 witnesses came forward, but the exact cause of the dispute between the truck driver and the bicyclist remains unknown. The bicyclist could also face assault charges as the investigation continues.
