Aquileo Najera Dead, Enrique Renteria Arroyo Arrested After Hit-And-Run Crash on 59th Avenue in Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ (October 26, 2024) – Saturday morning, 51-year-old Aquileo Najera died in a hit-and-run crash on 59th Avenue.

Phoenix police responded to a report of an injury-related crash near 59th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard at around 6 a.m. 

When officers arrived, they discovered 51-year-old Aquileo Najera, severely injured, inside one of the involved vehicles. Najera ultimately succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The other vehicle’s driver, initially fleeing the scene on foot, was later identified as 19-year-old Enrique Renteria Arroyo. Police located Arroyo at a nearby residence, where he was subsequently arrested. 

According to police, Arroyo had been speeding southbound on 58th Drive, running a stop sign at Encanto Boulevard before colliding with Najera’s vehicle.

While in custody, Arroyo admitted to being impaired at the time of the crash. 

Authorities have booked him into jail on several charges, including DUI, manslaughter, and leaving the scene of a fatal or serious injury accident. 

The investigation is ongoing.
