24-Year-Old SeaTac Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash near Highway 181
TUKWILA, WA (September 7, 2018) – A man was killed Friday afternoon following a pedestrian crash on Interstate 405. The victim was later identified as 24-year-old Antonio Baskin of SeaTac.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident took place in the southbound lanes of I-405, near Highway 181. The victim was attempting to cross when he was struck by a tractor-trailer.
Baskin became trapped underneath the semi-truck until he was rescued by emergency crews. Life-saving efforts were rendered before the victim was transported to the Harborview Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. Unfortunately, Baskin later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff.
Meanwhile, the semi-truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision and to identify possible contributing factors. No charges will be filed against the driver, and additional information has not been provided to the public at this time.
