2 Killed in Phoenix Auto Accident on 35th Avenue
PHOENIX, AZ (July 28, 2020) – Early Tuesday afternoon, Antoniette Dorego and another person died in a car crash on 35th Avenue.
A vehicle crashed into a bus stop at about 12:30 p.m. on 35th Avenue and Dunlap Avenue.
The authorities identified the victims as 66-year-old Antoinette M. Dorego. Meanwhile, they didn’t release the identity of the 80-year-old man victim due to pending family notification.
Reports revealed that a driver tried to avoid another car that had made a turn into her lane. As she attempted to avoid the crash, she lost control of her car and collided with the bus stop.
Antoinette Dorego and two men were at the bus stop when the crash occurred. As a result, authorities declared a man deceased at the scene. Meanwhile, responders transported Dorego and the other man to the hospital. Unfortunately, Antoinette Dorego later succumbed to her injuries. At this time, the authorities haven’t disclosed any information about the third victim.
Moreover, both vehicle drivers stayed at the scene.
Sgt. Mercedes Fortune of the Phoenix Police Department revealed that investigators do not suspect impairment as a factor in the collision.
“Once the reconstruction of the collision is complete then a decision will be made if charges are submitted,” Fortune said.
The crash led to the closure of the area for several hours during the investigation.
