15-Year-Old Boy Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Paramount Boulevard
PICO RIVERA, CA (January 10, 2020) – A 15-year-old boy died in a hit-and-run crash Friday afternoon in Pico Rivera.
The fatal incident happened around 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of Paramount Boulevard and Slauson Avenue.
According to reports, four pedestrians were running through a crosswalk when one of them was struck by a box truck.
Paramedics transported the pedestrian to a hospital in critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim did not survive and was declared dead.
A representative for the family identified the boy as Anthony Rojas and shared a GoFundMe to assist the family in its time of need.
Officials said the box truck driver did not stop. Witnesses were able to take note the vehicle’s license plate number.
Whittier police officers who were helping sheriff’s deputies in their investigation were able to find what they believed to be the suspect’s vehicle.
Police on Saturday arrested the suspect, a man in his 50s. Information on his identity was not immediately available.
