[UPDATE] Manteca Man Anthony Monterroza Dies in New Skyway Accident

 
Magalia, CA (April 6, 2021) – A crash on Skyway and Coutolenc Road left Anthony Monterroza, 23, dead and another injured on Monday afternoon.
 
The tragic incident happened on April 5 on New Skyway, just past Pentz Road, at around 4 p.m.
 
The California Highway Patrol said that witnesses saw the driver speeding and driving recklessly. As a result, the vehicle drove off the road, fell 60 feet, and crashed into a tree before spinning around.
 
Due to the extent of the incident, Anthony Monterroza died and the other individual sustained moderate to major injuries.
 
Officials transported the injured patient to the hospital for treatments; however, there has been no update regarding their current condition.
 
CHP said that both occupants of the vehicle were wearing their seatbelts. Furthermore, it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
 
According to Cal Fire, the Skyway will remain closed for several hours. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
 
Moreover, the investigation remains ongoing.
