1 Dead in San Pablo Accident on Church Lane

 
SAN PABLO, CA (August 14, 2022) – Early Saturday, authorities arrested Anthony Greenwood following a deadly bicycle crash on Church Lane.
 
The incident began at 3:46 a.m. when officers came to the 2400 block of Church Lane. They received a report of a hit-and-run crash between a vehicle and a bicyclist. When they arrived, they located a 57-year-old man with severe injuries lying on the road.
 
Despite life-saving measures, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His identity remains undisclosed due to pending family notification.
 
Meanwhile, reports confirmed that the involved vehicle escaped the scene before the police arrived.
 
After several minutes, officers received a report of a second crash involving a blue 2014 Honda Civic. The Honda traveled in the wrong lanes of traffic on northbound San Pablo Avenue near Robert H. Miller Drive.

Officers confirmed that the Honda hit a Cadillac sedan head-on in the southbound lanes of traffic. Eventually, officers determined that the Honda played a role in the hit-and-run on Church Lane.
 
Meanwhile, officers confirmed that the Cadillac driver suffered moderate injuries and required hospitalization.
 
Then, responders medically examined Greenwood and later arrested him. At this time, alcohol and/or drug use have not been ruled out as contributing factors.
 
Officers will book Anthony Greenwood into Contra Costa County Jail on charges of felony hit and run and vehicular manslaughter.
 
Furthermore, the crash shut down Church Lane for hours as police investigated the hit-and-run crash.
