1 Hospitalized in Placerville Wrong-Way Accident on Highway 50 near Smith Flat Road
PLACERVILLE, CA (October 13, 2022) – Early Tuesday morning, authorities arrested Anthony Estrada following a DUI crash on Highway 50 near Smith Flat Road.
The incident happened at around 12:32 a.m. on eastbound Highway 50 near Smith Flat Road.
According to reports, a westbound 2004 Honda Civic traveled at a high rate of speed in the eastbound lanes of the highway. Then, it collided with an oncoming vehicle just east of Bedford Avenue.
Moreover, responders transported a 15-year-old passenger of the second vehicle to Marshall Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Placerville police confirmed that an open alcoholic beverage was found inside the Honda Civic. Also, its driver, 36-year-old Anthony Estrada was driving on a suspended license.
Furthermore, officers arrested and booked Estrada into the El Dorado County Jail for felony charges connected to causing injury while driving drunk and causing injury while driving the wrong way on a divided highway.
Also, authorities said that Estrada was later released on $110,000 bail.
