Anthony Chay Fatally Hurt, Jessica Martinez Arrested in North Hollywood Motor Scooter Crash

 
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA (June 10, 2019) – A man died following a motor scooter collision in North Hollywood on Thursday morning, June 6.
 
LAPD later identified the victim as 20-year-old Anthony Chay.
 
According to reports, the accident occurred around 5:30 a.m., near the intersection of Vineland Avenue and Vanowen Street. First responders arrived to the area shortly after.
 
Furthermore, 24-year-old Jessica Martinez, of North Hollywood was driving a red 2004 Audi A4 south on Vineland. She then rear-ended the victim, who was stopped at a red light at the intersection with Vanowen.
 
Graphic surveillance video shows the Audi traveling fast as it blows through the intersection. It then sent sparks and the scooter rider flying as a result. Although LAPD described the victim’s vehicle as a motorcycle, the footage shows that it more closely resembles a Vespa.
 
The impact of the incident ejected the victim several hundred feet from the site. He later died on scene as a result.
 
A GoFundMe set up to raise money for his mother stated that he was on his way to film school when he died.
 
Meanwhile, Martinez continued driving south on Vineland before she collided with multiple vehicles parking along the west side of the road.
 
The force caused a white SUV to roll over, and the Audi to catch fire once it came to stop.
 
Martinez allegedly fled from the scene but bystanders pursued her. After that, officers detained and formally arrested her.
 
Martinez received treatments at the hospital for minor injuries, according to the police.
 
Investigators still have not figured out how fast the vehicle was going at the time of the collision. However, the amount of damage it caused is an indicator.
 
It is currently if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the incident.
