Anthony Carrasco Arrested in Fatal DUI Crash on Highway 99 and O Street [Merced, CA]

1 Dead after Merced Auto Accident on Highway 99 and O Street

 
MERCED, CA (March 8, 2023) – Monday night, authorities arrested Anthony Carrasco after a fatal DUI crash on Highway 99 and O Street.
 
The incident happened on Highway 99 and O Street.
 
According to reports, a 55-year-old Sacramento man drove a big rig hauling a set of double trailers. The man traveled at a speed of 55 mph southbound on Highway 99, north of O Street.
 
Meanwhile, 35-year-old Carrasco from Ceres drove a Chevy Tahoe south on Highway 99, north of O Street. As he traveled at a high rate of speed, he tried to pass the big rig on the narrow right shoulder of Highway 99.
 
As a result, the Tahoe got pinned between the big rig and the metal guard rail. Then, the big rig jackknifed to the right and overturned down the steep embankment.
 
Also, the big rig driver was trapped in the cab of the big rig. As a result, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, authorities evaluated the Ceres man for DUI. Then, they placed him under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
 
Moreover, officers confirmed that Anthony Carrasco suffered no injuries in the crash. Thus, CHP officers booked him at Merced County Jail for felony DUI upon medical clearance from the hospital.
 
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
