Antar Plummer and Isiah Hendricks Injured in Ferndale Accident on 5 Freeway
FERNDALE, WA (July 23, 2019) – Two people identified as Antar Plummer and Isiah Hendricks were hurt in a wrong-way crash on 5 Freeway.
The collision occurred around 7:35 a.m. on Sunday, July 21, on the northbound lanes of 5 Freeway north of the Main Street interchange.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Rocky Oliphant said they had received the first report of a wrong-way driver 5 minutes before the report of the crash.
According to WSP, a Seattle man, 34-year-old Antar Plummer, drove a black 2001 Lexus LS southbound in the northbound lanes. A Surrey BC man, 19-year-old Isiah Hendricks drove a silver 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit northbound in the same lane. The Volkswagen then collided head-on with the Lexus. The crash pushed the Volkswagen into a white 2007 Toyota Corolla which was in the other northbound lane. Officers identified the male driver of the Corolla as 36-year-old Paul Bach, of Versailles, Kentucky.
Paramedics rushed Plummer and Hendricks to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center. They both sustained non-life threatening injuries. Bach was not injured according to the WSP press memo. All drivers wore their seat belts when the incident happened.
The WSP is still investigating the multi-vehicle crash. Oliphant said they are still determining if drugs or alcohol or a medical condition played a role.
Officials diverted the northbound traffic of 5 Freeway at Main Street until about 10:20 a.m. Police are still investigating.
