Isiah Hendricks, Antar Plummer Injured in Whatcom County Car Accident
WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (July 23, 2019) – Two people sustained injuries in an accident on the 5 Freeway July 21.
First responders came to the scene around 7:35 a.m. on the northbound lanes of 5 Freeway, north of the Main Street. After that, WSP Trooper Rocky Oliphant revealed they received a report about a wrong-way driver. The Whatcom County Fire District 7 Assistant Fire Chief Dean Crosswhite revealed that the multi-vehicle accident involved 3 cars.
34-year-old Antar Plummer from Seattle drove a southbound black 2001 Lexus LS in the northbound lanes. At the same time, 19-year-old Isiah Hendricks of Surrey BC drove a silver 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit northbound in the same lane. Plummer crashed head-on with Hendricks.
The crash sent the Volkswagen into a northbound white 2007 Toyota Corolla driven by 36-year-old Paul Bach of Versailles, Kentucky.
Responders extricated 1 of the patients by cutting the roof off Crosswhite. As a result, authorities administered alternate routes until around 10:20 a.m.
In addition, they said that responders transported Plummer and Hendricks to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center. However, the patients sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Bach did not suffer any injury. However, authorities confirmed that all drivers wore seat belts during the crash.
Police are determining whether drugs, alcohol or a medical condition contributed in the crash.
