18-Year-Old Man Arrested after SUV Crashes near Robin Williams Tunnel
SAUSALITO, CA (May 26, 2018) — An 18-year-old man was arrested after fleeing from a car crash near the Robin Williams Tunnel, on Saturday evening.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to an overturned SUV on the southbound US Highway 101, around 8:45 PM. Witnesses told officers that the car overturned and a large group of teenagers, more than the car’s capacity, crawled out onto the roadway.
A CHP helicopter arrived at the scene and officers saw the driver of the vehicle flee. The helicopter tracked the man as he ran west into a wooded area near the freeway. The teenager was identified as Angel Negronclay.
According to Sausalito police and CHP officers, Negronclay went into the woods and was found him hiding by authorities. He was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, felony hit-and-run causing injury, and driving without a license.
Five people in the car were aged 16 to 21 and they were treated at the scene by medics and released. No additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
