Angel Martinez Arrested, Woman Dead in Santa Rosa DUI Crash
SANTA ROSA, CA (October 15, 2019) – Officials arrested 21-year-old Angel Ivan Martinez after a DUI accident on Monday, October 14.
At around 3 a.m., officers rushed to reports of a three-car crash on Hoen Avenue near Cypress Avenue.
Martinez had been speeding in a black Dodge Challenger while moving east down Hoen Avenue. After that, he lost control and crashed into a white Mazda parked on the street and pushed it into someone’s yard. The cars then crashed with an unoccupied black Prius, which was also totaled.
Officers found the woman, who was not yet identified, dead in the Mazda. Police believe she may have been living out of her vehicle. She was possibly sleeping at the time of the incident. Authorities also found a dog in the woman’s vehicle, but its status is unknown.
Paramedics treated Martinez for minor injuries. Then officials booked him into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence.
Hoen Avenue east of Cypress remained closed at about 9 a.m. Monday. The crash damaged power lines and caused the surrounding neighborhood to lose power.
