ATWATER, CA (June 28, 2022) – Early Monday, authorities arrested Angel Manzo after a DUI crash on Highway 99 and Westside Boulevard.
 
The incident occurred at around 1:00 a.m. on Highway 99 and Westside Boulevard.
 
According to reports, 47-year-old Angel Manzo of Riverbank drove a 2014 Mercedes sedan southbound in the northbound lanes. As he approached Atwater Boulevard in the wrong direction, he saw vehicles driving toward him and attempted to avoid them.
 
Then, Manzo went into an opening within a construction zone and lost control. Eventually, Angel Manzo struck the center median.
 
Reports confirmed that four drivers northbound noticed the suspect’s car approaching and took evasive action. As a result, a three-vehicle chain-reaction crash occurred. After the crash, one of the drivers complained of pain but didn’t require hospitalization.
 
Also, officers noticed that the suspect displayed objective signs of impairment. After conducting field sobriety, they arrested Manzo and booked him into Merced County Jail on suspicion of several charges. The charges included felony driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs causing bodily injury, DUI .08 alcohol causing bodily injury, misdemeanor driving the wrong way on a divided highway, and driving with a license suspended or revoked for DUI.
 
Furthermore, the authorities continue to investigate the crash.
