1 Killed in Merced Auto Accident on Ingomar Grade
Fresno, CA (October 1, 2020) – Tuesday afternoon, a teenager named Angel Ibanez died in a rollover crash on Ingomar Grade in Los Banos.
At around 4:50 p.m., the officers came to a report of a single-vehicle crash involving an overturned Chevrolet Suburban.
Officer Shannon Stiers revealed that a 13-year-old male drove a black 2001 Chevrolet Suburban. He drove at a speed of 50 mph, south on Ingomar Grade, north of Sylvester Road. Furthermore, three juvenile passengers rode with him.
The CHP confirmed that all four occupants came from Los Banos.
Angel was in a Chevrolet Suburban with three other teens, including his best friend Isaac Sanchez. A 13-year-old was behind the wheel.
However, the 13-year-old driver lost control of the car as it tried to make a curve. Then, the car sped off the road and rolled over several times.
As a result, 14-year-old Angel Ibanez died at the accident scene.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle and two other passengers suffered minor injuries. According to reports, the passengers were both males ages 14 and 15.
The CHP continues to investigate the crash. Furthermore, they do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a role in the fatal collision.
