Fresno Crash Kills Angel Hernandez, Raymond Celaya Arrested
Fresno, CA (June 19, 2021) – On Thursday, 10-year-old Angel Hernandez died and police arrested 62-year-old Raymond Celaya in a hit-and-run crash on Friant Avenue.
Officers received the crash report at 10:30 p.m at the Fort Washington Avenue intersection.
When rescuers arrived, they immediately began life-saving measures and rushed Hernandez to Valley Children’s Hospital where he died.
Meanwhile, the officers got a tip Friday morning about the car believed involved in the hit and run from somebody who saw the news reports.
The authorities linked the vehicle to Celaya.
Video from Martha Sanchez’s house shows Celaya parked the car before 11:00 a.m. Friday. She said she had never seen Celaya before.
“I came out and looked and I noticed it was the suspect’s car they were looking for and I’m just in shock that anybody would come and park their car like that after doing such a horrible thing,” said Sanchez.
Moreover, officers went to Celaya’s apartment Friday and arrested him without incident. He’s being charged with felony hit and run and felony vehicular manslaughter.
Apparently, Hernandez was on a walk with his aunt. They were both were crossing the intersection in the crosswalk.
The aunt made it to the sidewalk but Hernandez was struck before he could make it.

Hit-and-Run Crash Can Lead to Unexpected Death
In a time where an unexpected deadly accident happened to a loved one, we may be left feeling powerless. This is quite common in fatal accidents.
Thus, it is crucial that the loved ones of the deceased become aware that they may file a wrongful death suit. A wrongful death suit allows families to hold parties liable for the irrevocable damages they have caused. Depending on the scale of events, settlements can be anywhere from several hundred thousand dollars to tens of millions of dollars.
Moreover, according to NHTSA, pedestrian and bicyclist fatalities continue to rise in the United States. As a matter of fact, more pedestrians and cyclists were killed in 2018 than in any year since 1990.
