Officer Andy Ornelas Dies Following Palmdale Motorcycle Crash on West Avenue N-3
PALMDALE, CA (November 25, 2020) – On November 23, CHP Officer Andy Ornelas suffered injuries in an accident on Avenue N-3 and 32nd Street.
The incident occurred at around 7:15 p.m. on W. Avenue N-3 and N. 32nd Street.
According to the CHP, officer Ornelas was riding behind a pickup truck. As the truck missed its turn into a driveway, the driver tried to make a u-turn. Then, the officer crashed into the truck.
The vehicle driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Meanwhile, responders took the motorcycle officer to a hospital in critical condition. He later died from his injuries.
The Palmdale crash remains under active investigation.
