19-Year-Old Driver Dies after Car Overturns and Catches Fire on 215 Freeway in Perris
PERRIS, CA (December 25, 2019) – A teen driver died in a fiery rollover crash on Christmas Day in Perris.
The crash happened around 6:50 p.m. on 215 Freeway at Harley Knox Boulevard.
According to the CHP, a black Honda Civic was traveling northbound on the freeway when it slammed into a bridge. It then overturned and caught fire.
The driver, identified as 19-year-old Andy Ralphie Acuna Jr. of Jurupa Valley, died at the scene.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the passenger to a hospital with major injuries.
Both the driver and passenger were not wearing their seat belts and were subsequently ejected from the car upon impact.
Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash the CHP said.
The CHP urges any witnesses to call the CHP’s Accident Investigation Unit at 951-637-8000.
