2-Year-Old Girl and 2 Others Dead in Speeding Accident on Bagget-Marysville Rd, Carlos Hill Jr. Detined
Oroville, CA (April 29, 2021) – On Thursday, two men and one child died, while police arrested Carlos Hill Jr., 19, in a street racing crash on Lincoln Boulevard.
The fatal Oroville accident happened early afternoon at Baggett-Marysville Road.
Officers classified it as a street race that involved a black Jeep Cherokee and red Chevy Camaro. They also said that the Jeep Cherokee collided with a power pole at its base, causing the pole to snap.
Unfortunately, two children were thrown from the vehicle. Authorities later said another child, a 2-year-old girl, died at the scene.
Rescuers airlifted one of the surviving kids to Oroville Hospital, while they took the other to UC Davis Medical Center.
Meanwhile, CHP Officers detained Oroville resident Carlos Hill Jr. for his involvement in the deadly crash.
Currently, he is under arrest at Butte County Jail with 10 felony violations, one being partaking in an illegal speeding contest.
The three deceased were all occupants in the Jeep Cherokee. The coroner’s office identified the two men: driver, Anthony Gaston, 30, of Oroville, and Andrew Lockner, 18, of Oroville.
CAL FIRE said the roads would be closed for a while. They asked motorists to take an alternate route around the area.
