2 People Hospitalized in Fort Worth Pedestrian Accident on West 7th Street and University Drive
FORT WORTH, TX (January 30, 2024) – Saturday night, authorities arrested Andrew Guerra in a disastrous pedestrian crash on West 7th Street and University Drive.
The incident started at around 10:06 p.m. when officers noticed a gray pickup truck with no headlights at 1000 Foch Street. Then, the suspect vehicle continued traveling the wrong way on Morton Street, and later backed up and almost collided with a marked police unit before proceeding to drive onto a curb.
According to reports, authorities attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the suspect driver refused the yield and continued to travel at a high rate of speed through the parking lot. Then, the suspect vehicle continued traveling at the intersection of West 7th and University where it struck a pole, a stationary car, and two pedestrians.
Moreover, responders rushed the two pedestrians, an adult male and an adult female, to a hospital with serious injuries.
Furthermore, officers arrested the driver of the vehicle, 29-year-old Guerra from Grand Prairie, for Evading Arrest/Detention with Vehicle Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Intoxication Assault with Vehicle Causing Serious Bodily Injury, and Unlawful Restraint, with a $95,000 bond.
At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
Due to limited information, the Fort Worth Police continued to investigate the crash.
