Andres Trujillo of Sunnyside Dies in Hit-and-Run Crash on US 395 [Franklin County, WA]

Franklin County, WA (November 08, 2021) – On Sunday, 46-year-old Andres Trujillo of Sunnyside died in a hit-and-run crash on US 395.

The fatal crash happened before 11:00 a.m. near Eltopia, approximately 11 miles north of Pasco.

Officers said Trujillo was parked along the southbound freeway’s shoulder. Trujillo was outside of his vehicle, securing the load on his trailer when another pickup truck and trailer passed. 

Apparently, a heavy construction equipment loaded on the trailer struck Trujillo. Officers pronounced him dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the involved driver did not stop.

Later on, the authorities located the driver and identified him as 79-year-old Darell Slippy from Pasco. 

Slippy said he did not have any idea he had struck someone.

Meanwhile, charges for Slippy are pending and the officers say drugs or alcohol was not a factor in the fatal incident.

The Washington State Patrol continues to investigate this crash.
