30-Year-Old Indio Woman Dies after Her SUV Overturns on Highway 86 at 50th Avenue
COACHELLA, CA (March 20, 2019) – A woman was killed following a rollover crash Wednesday morning in Coachella, CHP officials said.
The fatal crash happened around 10:54 a.m. on Highway 86 at 50th Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving her black SUV southbound on Highway 86, just North of 50th Avenue when another car suddenly stopped. The woman tried to swerve to the left to avoid hitting the car, but she lost control. Her SUV overturned several times before landing on its side.
Responding emergency crews attempted CPR, but the woman did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Riverside County Coroner identified the victim Thursday as a 30-year-old Anakaren Sanchez of Indio.
Sanchez was a certified nursing assistant at Manor Care in Palm Desert. Her 10-year-old daughter survived the crash.
The windows on the SUV were completely shattered from the crash, and some of the wheels were missing.
The driver of the other car reportedly fled the scene.
Sanchez’s family created a GoFundMe page to help pay for funeral expenses.
No words can mend the broken hearts and sorrow felt during this delicate moment. Our deepest condolences and sympathies are with the family and friends Anakaren Sanchez.
