Driver Dies after Crashing into Big Rig near North East Street in Anaheim
ANAHEIM, CA (April 2, 2019) – One unidentified person was killed following a two-vehicle accident on 91 Freeway Tuesday evening, near North East Street.
Authorities first received reports of the fatal collision around 10:06 p.m. First responders then arrived along the eastbound lanes of 91 Freeway soon after.
According to reports, a vehicle became airborne for unknown reasons, and crashed into the back of a big rig near the East Street exit.
Due to the impact of the collision, the vehicle was smoking upon officers arrival. One injured victim was also found unresponsive and suffering from life-threatening injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, the unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
All lanes of traffic were closed for a brief time while crews worked to clean and finalize preliminary investigation. The first and carpool lanes were both re-opened around 10:50 p.m. All lanes of the freeway were eventually cleared by 12:15 a.m.
Moreover, it is currently unknown if intoxication was a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
