Two People Fatally Injured in a Collision at East El Norte Parkway and North Ash Street

ESCONDIDO, CA (March 25, 2018) – A two-vehicle collision on a busy intersection in North County took the life of two people and injured two others, late Sunday night.

According to the police, the incident happened at around 11:30 PM on El Norte Parkway and Ash Street. A witness stated that he’d seen a speeding Dodge Charger run past a red light and crashed into a silver Ford Mustang.

The impact caused the Mustang to roll over and halt in front of a residential area, ejecting the driver onto the front yard of the nearby home.

Mustang’s driver and a 19-year-old passenger, Ana Lira, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The Dodge Charger’s driver was able to crawl out of the wreckage and sustained serious injuries. A second passenger from the Ford and the Dodge driver were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Parts of East El Norte Parkway and North Ash Street were shut down for investigation, and reopened nearly seven hours later. Officials continue to investigate the deadly collision, and they believe that alcohol and speed may have been contributing factors. No other information is available at the moment.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Ana Lira’s family.

Sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Ana Lira and the other deceased victim. May they rest in peace.
