HWY 89 Fatal Crash Under Investigation
Siskiyou County, CA (August 24, 2024) – 32-year-old Amrit Pal Singh of Rancho Cordova was killed in a big rig crash on Highway 89 past Wednesday midnight.
The deadly collision happened at 12:30 a.m. near the Shasta County border.
A 72-year-old driver was traveling north when he fell asleep at the wheel. The big rig swerved off the road and sideswiped a tree.
That was when the driver woke up and tried to regain control of the vehicle. Unfortunately, the driver over-corrected and the cab drove off the embankment into several trees.
The front of the big rig was severely damaged and its trailer blocked southbound and northbound lanes of the freeway.
Amrit Pal Singh who was asleep in the back of the vehicle died in the collision.
CHP officers are investigating this fatal collision.
