74-Year-Old Tulare County Woman Fatally Injured in Collision near Linda Vista Avenue
PORTERVILLE, CA (September 18, 2018) – A woman was killed in a car crash on Highway 65, late Tuesday morning. The deceased victim was later identified as 74-year-old Amparo Martinez of Tulare County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 11:00 AM, near Linda Vista Avenue.
Reports showed that the victim’s husband, 75-year-old Jose Martinez was driving his 1990 Honda Accord northbound on the highway approaching Linda Vista. At the same time Melchor Naranjo was driving a 2016 flatbed truck southbound. He then turned onto Linda Vista Avenue, colliding with the Accord.
Amparo Martinez was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. Her husband also suffered major injuries and was airlifted to a different hospital for treatment. There is no update on his current medical condition. Naranjo was not injured and cooperated with the officials during their investigation.
No arrests had been made at this time, and drugs and alcohol were not believed to be a factor in the fatal collision. No further details have been disclosed to the public at this time.
