Amber Leist Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Riverside Drive [VALLEY VILLAGE, CA]

Off-Duty Sheriff’s Detective Hit and Killed after Helping Woman who Fell in Crosswalk in Valley Village

 
VALLEY VILLAGE, CA (January 12, 2020) – An off-duty sheriff’s detective was killed after being hit by a vehicle Sunday morning in Valley Village.
 
The incident happened around 11:00 a.m. at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Whitsett Avenue.
 
Amber Leist, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department detective was helping a elderly woman who fell in the crosswalk. She was returning to her car when a vehicle struck her.
 
Paramedics rushed her to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
 
The driver of the car that struck Leist remained at the scene.
 
An investigation into this fatal incident is ongoing.
