31-Year-Old Bellingham Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident near Loomis Trail Road
BLAINE, WA (November 16, 2018) – A woman was killed late Saturday afternoon following a pedestrian accident near Loomis Trail Road. The victim was later identified as 31-year-old Amanda Jean Mitchell, a resident of Bellingham.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened shortly before 5:00 PM. Mitchell ran across the median and into the southbound lanes when she was struck by a purple 2008 Lexus RX350.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers. Meanwhile, the 38-year-old Snohomish man driving the Lexus remained and cooperated with investigators.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal crash and to identify possible contributing factors. It was also noted that Mitchell removed her clothes before the incident. Authorities also confirmed that she was last seen by her family on July 4. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
