Tragic Multi-Vehicle Collision on Richardson’s Central Expressway Claims Three Lives
Richardson, TX (November 2, 2024) On Thursday evening, 19-year-old Alyia Khalid, Haley Taylor, and her 6-year-old daughter were all killed in a multi-car crash on Central Expressway.
According to the Richardson Police Department (RPD), the fatal collision happened just before midnight on the 3400 block of N. Central Expressway.
Police responded to a multi-vehicle accident that resulted in the tragic loss of three lives, including a young child.
The incident began when officers were alerted to a stalled Cadillac SUV in the southbound HOV lane.
Before police could reach the scene, a Lexus SUV driven by 27-year-old Haley Taylor collided with the Cadillac from behind. Shortly after, a Dodge sedan, also traveling south, rear-ended the Lexus.
The driver and six passengers of the Cadillac had exited their vehicle at the time of the collision. Unfortunately, 19-year-old passenger Alyia Khalid was pronounced dead at the scene. The Cadillac’s driver and four other passengers sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital, while one passenger escaped unharmed.
Haley Taylor and her 6-year-old daughter, both in the Lexus, were transported to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The Dodge’s driver and one passenger were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Following the second collision, a nearby Nissan sedan was struck twice—once by the Dodge and then by an 18-wheeler passing through the crash site. No injuries were reported for the drivers of the Nissan or the 18-wheeler.
Two additional vehicles were damaged by debris but reported no injuries. The Richardson Police Special Crash Investigation Team continues to investigate this fatal accident.
Our deepest condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.
The Benefit of Hiring Legal Representation
If you’ve lost a loved one in a fatal accident, it’s essential to seek legal representation as soon as possible. A wrongful death attorney can guide you through the legal complexities, gather crucial evidence, and handle communications with insurance companies. With the right legal support, your family can focus on grieving and healing, knowing that your rights are being protected.
It’s also important to understand that there are time limits for legal action in a wrongful death case, known as the statute of limitations. If this deadline passes, the family may lose the opportunity to file a lawsuit, which could prevent them from holding the responsible party accountable and receiving the compensation they deserve for their loss.
Missing the statute of limitations could leave you without the financial support you need and deny you the chance to seek justice for your loved one.
