1 Dead in Solano County Pedestrian Accident on Highway 37
SOLANO COUNTY, CA (November 14, 2019) — A 29-year-old Fairfield man died in an accident on Highway 37 on November 12.
According to investigators, moments before the crash, at 12:05 a.m., Alton Butler drove a Nissan Altima sedan west on Highway 37 and hit a sound wall along the right shoulder and west of the Fairgrounds Drive exit.
The crash pushed the Altima across all lanes until the car partially stopped in the center divider and fast lane of westbound Highway 37.
The authorities believe that Alton Butler went out of the Altima and crossed westbound lanes to the right shoulder. He then stayed for a short time before walking back across the freeway lanes. He then got hit by a Jeep Commander driving in the No. 2 westbound lane.
“A third vehicle, a Honda Civic, traveling on State Route 37 westbound, in the No. 3 lane, swerved right, collided with the sound wall on the right shoulder and then collided with the Jeep Commander,” Harvey revealed.
Medical personnel came to the scene and pronounced Butler dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old Vallejo male driver of the Jeep didn’t suffer any injury. The 24-year-old female Honda driver sustained minor injuries and went to the Kaiser hospital in Vallejo for treatment.
Our deepest regrets and thoughts are with the loved ones of Alton Butler.
