46-Year-Old Altif Vinson Dies in Motorcycle Crash on 980 Freeway in Oakland
OAKLAND, CA (July 19, 2019) – A man was killed following a motorcycle crash late Friday evening in Oakland.
The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau identified the man as Altif Vinson, 46, of Livermore.
Vinson was traveling westbound on 980 Freeway near 27th Street under-crossing around 11:54 p.m., when his motorcycle started to wobble underneath him, CHP officials said.
Vinson lost control of his bike, which overturned, ejecting him onto the second lane. While lying on the roadway, a gray Dodge Ram pickup truck struck him.
Arriving units pronounced Vinson dead at the scene.
All freeway lanes were closed until around 1:47 a.m., while officers investigated the crash. However, the roadway has since reopened.
