School Bus Crashes into a Tree Outside of Joan MacQueen Middle School
ALPINE, CA (March 14, 2018) – A school bus carrying over 40 students, crashed into a tree on Tavern Street, Friday afternoon around 4:50 PM.
Principal Karen Hohimer said that the accident happened outside Joan MacQueen Middle School, on the 2001 block of Tavern Road near White Oak Drive. Forty-two children, two adults, and the bus driver were on the bus at the time of the accident.
One parent said that the bus was on its way back from a school trip in a Yucaipa farm when it struck a tree.
According to the California Highway Patrol, some of the passengers were injured by glass coming from the bus’ shattered windows. No one was seriously injured. However, three students were taken to the hospital for further evaluation, as decided by their parents.
The cause of the accident is still unknown at this time. Further investigation is ongoing by police officials.
