COLTON, CA (April 12, 2021) – Sunday afternoon, Alexa Avalos, 5, died and two others suffered injuries in a single-car crash on South Cooley Drive.
The officers came to the crash scene at 2:25 p.m. in the 900 block of South Cooley Drive. Upon their arrival, they found three people inside the car.
Thus, the Colton Fire Department and paramedics took all three patients to a local hospital. However, Alexa Avalos, of Twin Peaks, later died of her injuries.
At this time, the authorities haven’t disclosed the conditions of the two patients.
Meanwhile, the preliminary investigation indicated that a Toyota 4Runner traveled south on Cooler Drive. Then, it veered off the road after blowing through a stop sign.
Subsequently, it drove across a raised center median. Afterward, the vehicle crashed with an electrical pole and stopped in the north lane of Cooley Drive.
Later reports revealed that the driver of the vehicle, Ernesto Avalos, 28, drove under the influence at the time of the accident.
