53-Year-Old Maria Polanco Hospitalized in Kennewick
KENNEWICK, WA (January 21, 2019) – On Monday afternoon, 53-year-old Maria Polanco from Kennewick was injured in a collision on Highway 397 near Gum Street.
According to police officers, a BMW driven by 19-year-old Alex Ramos from Pasco and a red sedan were racing, causing Ramos to strike a Dodge truck driven by Polanco, who was not involved in the street race.
First responders arrived at the scene of the accident and transported the occupants to a nearby hospital. Their current medical condition is unclear at this time.
Authorities stated Ramos will be charged with negligent driving for speeding.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time for cleanup and preliminary investigation, but has since reopened. No further details have been released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time.
