Two People Hospitalized after Coachella Crash at Grapefruit Boulevard and Avenue 54
COACHELLA, CA (July 2, 2018) – Two people were hospitalized Monday evening following a suspected DUI traffic collision.
According to the Coachella Police Department, the collision took place at about 6:30 PM in the area of Grapefruit Boulevard and Avenue 54. A Nissan pickup truck, driven by 40-year-old Alejandro Ruvalcaba, of Coachella, was heading north on Grapefruit Boulevard when it drifted into the southbound lane and collided with an oncoming white Honda sedan.
The driver of the Honda sustained moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Ruvalcaba was also hospitalized with unspecified injuries. Authorities confirmed that the Nissan driver was impaired at the time of the collision and he will be booked into the Riverside County Jail once medically cleared.
