Leroy Rodrigues Dies in Crash on International Boulevard
Oakland, CA (February 3, 2022) – On Tuesday, 17-year-old Alejandro Herrera Miranda of Oakland and 26-year-old Leroy Rodrigues, also from Oakland, died in a head-on crash on International Boulevard.
The authorities say that the accident happened around 9:36 p.m. in the 7800 block of International Boulevard, wherein a 16-year-old Oakland boy was also injured.
According to the police, Rodrigues was speeding eastbound on International Boulevard in a Ford Fusion.
The Fusion was in a designated bus lane when it suddenly crossed over into the westbound lane.
As a result, it collided head-on with a Nissan driven by the 16-year-old boy.
Moreover, police say that Miranda was a passenger in the Nissan along with Rodrigues, both were dead on the scene.
Meanwhile, the 16-year-old teen tried to flee from the scene but the authorities later arrested him.
The boy had a broken wrist, rescuers took him to a hospital for treatment.
Police are still investigating the crash and urge people who might have been witnesses to call the Oakland police traffic investigation unit at 510-777-8570.
