Alejandro Diaz Martinez Killed in Highway 178 Solo Rollover Crash [Bakersfield, CA]

Bakersfield, CA (July 14, 2021) – On Sunday, 17-year-old Alejandro Diaz Martinez died in a solo rollover crash on Highway 178.

The accident happened at around 9:46 p.m. at the Beale Avenue off-ramp.

The California Highway Patrol said a Hyundai was exiting Highway 178 through the Beale Avenue off-ramp when the driver made an unsafe turn and lost control of vehicle. 

As a result, the Hyundai traveled out of control in a northwesterly direction. Then, it struck a raised asphalt curb and turned onto its roof within the off-ramp.

Martinez was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash and was thrown from the vehicle. 

He was seriously injured in the accident and was taken to Kern Medical, where he was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old driver sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
