Albert Austin James Titla Dies After Crash on Interstate 25

Santa Fe, NM (September 2, 2024) – Early Monday morning, 25-year-old Albert Austin James Titla died in a crash on Interstate 25.

New Mexico State Police reported that a man driving south in the northbound lane of Interstate 25, just south of Santa Fe, collided head-on with another vehicle, resulting in his death. 

The deceased, identified as 25-year-old Albert Austin James Titla from Santa Fe, died at the scene after his 2014 Nissan crashed into a 2007 GMC pickup near The Downs at Santa Fe. 

The other driver, a 39-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital for treatment, though his condition and the severity of his injuries were not disclosed. 

The incident, which occurred around 1 a.m., prompted a police response after reports of a wrong-way driver. 

Authorities are still investigating the crash and have not yet determined if alcohol played a role.
