Clark Public Utilities Truck Driver Fatally Injured in Collision near 289th Street
BATTLE GROUND, WA(September 14, 2018) – A man was killed in a multiple-vehicle crash on Northeast 82nd Avenue, early Friday afternoon. The victim was later identified as 56-year-old Albert Apana of Vancouver.
According to reports from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the collision took place shortly before 12:30 PM in the 28900 block of NE 82nd, near 289th Street. A southbound 2004 GMC Envoy SUV tried to pass a 1974 Ford pickup, went into the oncoming lane, and collided with a northbound 2009 Ford F-450 utility truck.
Apana was driving the Clark Public Utilities truck, and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. The driver of the GMC, identified as 18-year-old Joseph Dudley of Vancouver, and the driver of the Ford pickup was identified as 44-year-old James Moore of Yacolt. Both men suffered minor injuries, and one was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.

A nearby fence for a residence on Northeast 82nd Avenue was also damaged in the collision. Both Dudley and Moore are cooperative during the investigation, which is being handled by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit. No further details have been disclosed to the public at this time, as the investigation continues.
