Late Evening Crash on 580 Freeway in Albany Ends in Fatality
ALBANY, CA (May 15, 2019) – At least one person was killed following a traffic collision late Wednesday evening in Albany.
The collision happened around 10:42 p.m. on westbound 580 Freeway, just East of 80 Freeway.
CHP and fire officials responded to the scene and located a white Acura MDX that appeared to have struck a center divider. Two occupants have crawled out of the vehicle.
Paramedics took four patients to a hospital with unspecified injuries. Sadly, at least one of them did not survive and was declared dead.
The condition of the other injured parties was not immediately available.
A SigAlert was issued in the area, blocking the first and second lanes for unknown duration while authorities worked on the scene.
No identifying information is being released at this time. Further investigation is underway.
