Oxnard Woman Arrested after Alarming Wrong-Way Crash on Borchard Road and Highway 101 [Newbury Park, CA]

Injuries Reported in Newbury Park Auto Accident on Borchard Road and Highway 101

NEWBURY PARK, CA (August 27, 2023) – Early Saturday afternoon, an Oxnard woman was arrested after an alarming wrong-way crash on Borchard Road and Highway 101.

The incident happened just before 12:45 a.m. on the Borchard Road offramp from northbound Highway 101, California Highway Patrol officials said.

According to reports, a 28-year-old Oxnard woman drove a black 2015 Mazda 3 the wrong way on the exit ramp

As a result, she collided with a 38-year-old Newbury Park man driving a 2016 Ford Fusion who had been exiting the 101.

Upon CHP officers and Ventura County firefighters’ arrival, they confirmed that the two vehicles blocked the two right lanes of the northbound freeway just north of Borchard Road. Also, both cars sustained major damage.

Meanwhile, the Newbury Park man complained of pain in his right arm and leg. Then, the Oxnard woman sustained an abrasion across her chest.

Also, the crash shut down the two right lanes and the Borchard exit for about an hour for investigation and cleanup.

Meanwhile, CHP investigators said that the Oxnard woman was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. Thus, they arrested her on suspicion of felony DUI and wrong-way driving offenses and booked her into Ventura County jail with bail set at $50,000.
