1 Person Hospitalized in Amarillo Auto Accident on Highway 70 near Loop 171

AMARILLO, TX (July 31, 2023) – Sunday afternoon, an alarming rollover crash on Highway 70 near Loop 171 injured one person.

The incident happened at around 5:00 p.m. on State Highway 70 near Loop 171.

According to the Department of Public Safety, a northbound Chevrolet Tahoe traveling erratically struck the rear end of a northbound Expedition.

Moreover, responders airlifted the Tahoe driver to Northwest Texas Healthcare System with unknown injuries. Also, a private vehicle transported occupants of the Expedition to a hospital with minor injuries.

Furthermore, DPS believes that alcohol played a role in the crash.

At this time, the circumstances involved in the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
