CHINO, CA (June 16, 2024) – Saturday afternoon, a Lockheed L12 was involved in an alarming plane crash near Chino Airport.

The incident happened at about 12:30 p.m. during the plane’s takeoff.

Video footage from the scene of a plane crash showed the fuselage and what appeared to be propellers scattered across a field. 

A witness, Robert, described seeing the plane at about 300 feet in the air before it started banking to the left and then nosediving. “The first part of the plane that hit was the left wing, and what happened was an immediate explosion, a big fireball with black smoke,” Robert recounted. This tragic incident occurred during the Pops and Props Father’s Day event at Yanks Air Museum.

As of Saturday evening, officials had not disclosed the number of people on the plane or the extent of any injuries. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced that an investigator would arrive at the scene by Sunday and that the wreckage would be moved to a secure facility for further examination.
